Crewe Alexandra Football were delighted to be crowned the 'Most Admired Club' at last night's Football League Awards sponsored by FourFourTwo magazine. It is a tremendous achievement and the club would like to thank everyone who voted for us.
We were delighted just to be nominated along with a host of great clubs; so to win the award was a great honour for everyone connected with Crewe Alexandra. The award is testimony to what we try to achieve as a Football Club within the local community and is a reflection of the way Dario, the players and the staff conduct their business and the way our loyal supporters behave both at home and away.
Chairman John Bowler who attended the gala evening in London said: "It's absolutely terrific to get this award.
"To be admired by your peers is the biggest accolade you can get - it's the most coveted prize we could have got this evening.
We have a small but dedicated staff; we are all supporters of the club.We are a community club - that's what football is all about".
Dario Gradi was also nominated for the 'Contribution to Football' award but unfortunately he finished as one of the runners-up to Gerry Murphy, the Academy Director of Huddersfield Town. We would like to pass on our congratulations to Gerry and all the award winners from last night's excellent evening in the capital.
The Most Admired Club Award was sponsored by the League Paper.
